Whether you have built your own computer, or have purchased one from ZouGate, the EFI-X module allows you to run multiple operating systems on your computer. We strongly recommend reading this entire Installation Guide before you install the EFI-X module.
PLEASE NOTE: EFIX only support hardware components that are listed in ourCompatibility Chart. EFI-X will only support a retail copy of the operating system, NOT an OEM copy that came with another computer or a back up copy; it has to be a retail copy.
SERIAL ATA is supported - IDE is not supported. The Serial ATA or SATA computer bus, is a storage-interface for connecting host bus adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drives and optical drives. The SATA host adapter is integrated into almost all modern consumer laptop computers and desktop motherboards. Serial ATA was designed to replace the older ATA (AT Attachment) standard (also known as EIDE). USE ONE HARD DRIVE FOR EACH OPERATING SYSTEM YOU WANT TO INSTALL. You will not be able to install multiple operating system on same hard drive since EFi-X USB V1/V1.1 does not read multiple partitions.
WHICH SATA PORTS TO USE. Only Intel Serial ATA ports are supported by EFIX. IDE ports are not supported. For installation connect no more than one hard drive and one optical/dvd drive. After the installation is complete you may connect additional hard drives as needed.
The EFIX box contains: • EFI-X module (v1 or v.1.1) • USB header extension cable • 3M double sided tape.
NOTE: You only have to use the extension cable if EFI-X module doesn't fit. If you don't need the extension cable, just connect the EFI-X module directly to USB1 header on your motherboard.
Always disconnect the power cable from your PC when installing the EFI-X module.
EFI-X Installation with the USB extension cord: When using the extension cord, please connect it to the EFI-X module as shown above before continuing. Note that one pin is missing on the USB extension cord and there is one blocked pin on the EFI-X module which corresponds to the missing pin on the USB extension cord. Please align accordingly and connect the extension chord to the EFI-X module.
Plug the other end of the EFI-X module extension cord into an available USB1 header on your motherboard. Note that one hole on the USB extension cord is blocked. This blocked hole corresponds to the missing pin in the motherboard USB1 header socket. Please align them accordingly and connect.
